Things You'll Need
Instructions
Buy a replacement string online, at a local toy store or your local hobby shop.
Inspect your yo-yo to find the space located just between the axle of the yo-yo. Twist the yo-yo counter clockwise to open up the interior axle. Examine the yo-yo string to find that it is one large piece of string looped around and knotted at one end.
Take the new string and pinch it two to three inches below the end where the knot has been tied by the manufacturer. Separate the string in two so you have one large loop shape, but keep your pinch at two to three inches before the knot. Place the yo-yo inside the loop directly on the axle.
Continue to pinch the end of your yo-yo string and use the other hand to wind the string back around the axle of the yo-yo. Untangle any knots that form during this process. Release the knotted end and use both hands to turn the yo-yo clockwise to tighten the axle around the string.
Roll up the yo-yo and try to release it a few times to make sure it moves smoothly. Release the axle and make any adjustments as needed.
