Television
Many production companies take their crews north of the border for a cheaper filming experience. Several famous television shows aimed at kids and teens are completely Canadian-made. Some of the most notable examples are the Degrassi franchise (which has been playing in Canada and the U.S. on-and-off since the 1980s) and Life With Derek, a popular children's show that was shown on the Disney channel in the United States.
Food
It's no secret that kids love food, and several American favorites are manufactured by our neighbors. Some American favorites include Ruffles and Lay's potato chips, Oreos and Chips Ahoy!. Canadians are also known for their smoked ham and delicious maple syrup, both of which your child may eat on a daily basis.
Clothes
Many clothing companies have their roots in Canada, including children's companies. Dance Stuff, a company that produces children's dance clothes and shoes, is located in Nova Scotia. Other brands include Just Kids Clothing, a store that specializes in designing and manufacturing clothing for children under the age of ten. You may find your child has some of these items in her closet.
Toys
Every child loves toys, and a variety of toys that children play with in the United States are manufactured in Canada. For example, Velcro makes a line of toys featuring its famed material that is made in Canada. In addition, the Professor Noggin series, several card games made in a variety of themes from history of art to the geography of the United States, are made in Canada.
