How to Prolong the Life of a Glow Stick

At many events that last into the night, like carnivals, concerts and festivals, vendors sell various products that give off a neon glow. These include glow sticks, necklaces, clip-on earrings, bracelets and crowns. The sticks lose their glow after awhile. For those who want to keep the glow of their item, there's a way to extend its lifespan. While freezing the glow stick won't keep it going indefinitely, you can get some more use out of the product.

Instructions

    • 1

Put the glow stick into a zip-close bag. Close the bag, leaving a small opening at one end. The bag will catch any leaks if the glow stick is crushed or cracks.

    • 2

Push on the bag, not the glow stick, to remove the extra air from the bag. Close the bag the rest of the way.

    • 3

Set the bag inside of a freezer, according to Glow Products, in a place that nothing will land on it, like the inside of the door.

    • 4

Remove the glow stick from the freezer and the bag. Hold it in a towel for 10 minutes to defrost it.
