How to Insert the Paper into a Cigarette Roller

Some smokers prefer to roll their own cigarettes because they believe that rolling tobacco is more moist and fragrant than that in pre-rolled cigarettes and contains fewer chemicals. Rolling takes dexterity, though, and while there are some who can do it with one hand, others just can't seem to wrap their fingers around the paper. They can resort to a rolling machine. It is a simple device that produces a well-formed cigarette with good draw. You usually insert the paper after you have rolled the tobacco into a cylindrical shape.

Rolling tobacco
Rolling papers
Rolling machine

  Separate the rollers of a rolling machine and spread tobacco on the fabric stretching between them. Distribute it evenly from end to end, then hold the machine with both hands and bring the rollers together. Hold the front roller with your thumbs and the back with your fingers.

  Rotate both rollers toward you at the same time to form the tobacco into a cylinder. Be sure to rotate both of the rollers. If you rotate just one, the tobacco will compress and the cigarette will be hard to draw.

  Hold a rolling paper with the gummed edge up and the gum facing you. Insert the other edge into the space between the rollers while you hold the rolling machine with the other hand. Squeeze the rollers together lightly to hold the paper in place.

  Place your thumbs on the front roller and your fingers on the back, and roll both toward you at the same time. They will draw the paper in and wrap it around the tobacco. Stop rolling just before the gummed edge of the paper disappears inside. Lick the gum and finish rolling.
