Outdoor Toys
Whether fun or educational, toys that glow in the dark are an exciting addition when organizing an outdoor sporting event or for playtime. Sports items like soccer balls, baseballs, footballs and golf balls are all made as glow-in-the-dark toys for nighttime activities. Frisbees also come in a variety of colors which glow in the dark. Each of these activities should be played in a previously secured area and enjoyed with added caution; while the glow-in-the-dark objects can be seen easily, other people and objects can't be.
Educational Toys
Practical learning kits, such as Star Explosion or the Kennedy Space Center's "Constellations Creations," allow children an opportunity for decorating their bedrooms with stars while learning about the solar system. The educational glow-in-the-dark HEXBUG Nano was recently named one of the "15 Smartest Toys for Young Geniuses" by Time magazine.
Famous Toymakers
Play-Doh and Slinky both offer their namesake products with glow-in-the-dark options. Crayola has created a Glow Station for for kids to create art, while Disney offers a three-inch Mickey Mouse made of vinyl which can be painted, drawn on or even have things glued on it. Hasbro's toy line includes Nerf balls that glow in the dark as well as 3-D puzzles.
Novelty Items
Jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces, earrings and temporary tattoos are examples of glow-in-the-dark novelty items. Board games are made with glow-in-the-dark features, like old board game The Green Ghost and Parker Brothers' Ouija Board. Glowsticks have been a popular toy since the 1980s for outdoor events, camping and festivals. Parents also like children carrying them as a safety flare to see and be seen when trick-or-treating.
