How to Put Granulated Sugar on Pastries

Baking and serving delicious pastry desserts is made sweeter and more decorative when you use sugar. Sprinkling sugar atop various pastries isn't difficult, and gives you the opportunity to experiment with different granulated sugar varieties. Knowing how to sprinkle granulated sugars on top of pastries adds pizazz to your various creations.

      Select a pastry like a fresh-baked cinnamon roll or apple fritter. Regardless of your choice, make sure it is fresh from the oven. Place it on a serving plate.

      Select a variety of granulated sugar that corresponds with the pastry you are dusting. For instance, a coarse, white granulated sugar is ideal for muffins and similar pastries. Add the sugar to a kitchen sifter.

      Hold the sifter approximately 5 inches above the pastries you want to dust. Shake the sifter gently to release the granulated sugar in a scattered formation over the pastries. Do this until they are covered according to your tastes.
