DIY Stress Ball

Squeezing your fist around a stress ball causes muscle tension, followed by muscle relaxation upon release. Performing this exercise repeatedly releases considerable muscle tension and relieves stress. While this exercise works just as well without a stress ball, the tactile devices reduce the strain of squeezing a bare fist. In addition to their powerful stress-relieving properties, using stress balls can improve grip. They are also fun toys to play with while talking on the phone.

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a funnel into the mouth of a standard latex party balloon.

    • 2

Fill the balloon with cornstarch up to the neck, remove the funnel and tie a knot to close the balloon. Pour out a bit of the cornstarch if the balloon is too full to tie a knot.

    • 3

Draw a design on the balloon, such as a smiley face or a caricature of your boss, with a permanent marker.

    • 4

Grip the ball in your fist, inhale and hold for a few seconds. Exhale as you release your grip and repeat. Perform this exercise an even number of times with each hand to develop your grip equally.
