Editions
The most notable difference between the three editions of the Sony Reader is the size of their respective screens. The Daily Edition has a standard 7-inch screen size, the largest of the three. The Touch is slightly smaller with a 6-inch screen. The Pocket, designed to be the smallest and most transportable, has a 5-inch screen. All three editions have a full touch screen and a thin, lightweight design.
Features
The Sony Reader comes with a variety of included features. Each Reader is equipped with Wi-Fi and 3G mobile broadband, which allows the user to access the Reader Store, blogs, web journals and other online content. Sony Readers also feature two built-in English dictionaries and 10 translation dictionaries. They are capable of holding 1,200 books at one time without any memory expansion. They can carry up to 50,000 books with the proper memory card.
Accessories
Sony markets several optional accessories for all three editions of the Reader. Protective cases and covers are offered in a variety of colors to suit the customer's color and style preferences. An AC charger is available to allow the Reader to be recharged without the need for a computer. Flash memory sticks are also offered to expand the Reader's available memory. They are available with capacities ranging from 2 GB to 16 GB.
Specifications
Certain specifications are standard for every Sony Reader, regardless of what edition it is. All Readers have a 16-level gray scale display and a built-in rechargeable battery with a charge life of approximately 10 to 14 days. They have a standard operating temperature range of 41 degrees to 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Each Reader comes with a warranty, a USB cable for computer charging and a Quick Start Guide to aid in the start-up and programming processes.
