Grinds
A grind, or slide, is the process of jumping up and sliding across an elevated surface while already in motion. Set up an old coffee table or other low piece of furniture. You can also purchase small grind rails at sporting stores or online. Approach the rail quickly, and leap onto the edge without interrupting the flow of motion. You may need to practice extensively, as keeping your balance for this trick is somewhat difficult.
Jumps
You can perform jumps with or without the help of a ramp. To jump without a ramp, simply bend your knees and leap into the air while in motion. Do not lose momentum in the air. Use a ramp to gain more elevation or as a takeoff point for other tricks.
Rebounds
Rebound off a wall to gain more speed or as an impressive trick. Rebound using your hands until you become more comfortable with the change of momentum. As you become more advanced, push off with one or two feet. Use a two-foot push as a segue into a spin move.
Spins
Perform spin maneuvers in increments of 180 or 360 degrees. Use a half-spin to change direction while in motion. A full spin, or 360, turns your body in a complete circle. Spins are impressive when incorporated into wall rebounds or grinds.
