Gifts for the Kids

Whether it's your child, a friend's child, a niece or nephew, a young person can be difficult to shop for. There are, however, gifts for every age group that children will enjoy and appreciate. So don't be overwhelmed the next time you have to purchase a gift for a youngster. No matter what the occasion, just look for gifts that are age-appropriate and fun.

Board Game
- Board games are fun gifts for kids of all ages. They also help a child learn how to be a good sport and can improve critical thinking skills. Select a game that can be played by the whole family. There are also games designed to teach specific lessons. For example, Elmo's Good Manners game, based on the "Sesame Street" character, encourages children to develop better manners.
Memberships
- Purchase a zoo membership or museum season pass for the child and her family. Select a place that the family frequents, such as a community theater, art gallery or science museum. Not only is this a gift the child will enjoy, but the parents will love having a free option for family fun.
Books
- Whether fiction or nonfiction, give a book that will get students excited about reading. Select a series he can feel proud about finishing or an educational series to get him ready for the next grade. Include a fun bookmark for the child, tucked inside of the book.
Kits
- Science kits, nature kits or craft kits all allow kids to be hands-on and are educational. Select a kit that corresponds with the child's age and interests. These kits come with everything a child needs to complete a number of educational activities. Select a kit that has multiple kits in a series so that as the child grows he can continue to learn through kits that are age-appropriate.
