Water Guns
Non-realistic water guns help kids keep cool in the summer. Children can have fun chasing each other and blasting each other with water. If your kids won't have access to a water supply to replenish, try a high-capacity water gun to keep them filled up longer.
Frisbee
A Frisbee is a compact toy that can go anywhere. Throw it into any bag or leave one in the car so that the kids always have something with them. Get your kids outside and running around by tossing the Frisbee around to each other.
Sidewalk Chalk
Kids can use sidewalk chalk in a driveway, in front of the house or at the park to create pictures or a hopscotch board. Bring it with you on road trips to keep the children occupied outdoors.
Bicycle
Children of all ages can ride bikes. Try two-wheelers for older children, training wheels for younger children and tricycles for toddlers. Encourage your children to ride their bicycles for good exercise. Remind your children to hydrate regularly on warm, summer days.
Trampoline
An outdoor trampoline will help your children get out all of their extra energy by bouncing up and down. Place it in your backyard to provide your children with a good time and exercise.
Jump Rope
Jumping rope gives your children the opportunity to work on their coordination while staying active in the outdoors. Teach your children different ways to jump rope such as jumping on one foot and crossing the arms.
Beach Set
Take a beach set along with you to your summer trips to the beach. Use a bucket for carrying sand and water and use the various shovels to help your children scoop up sand. These tools will also help in sand castle building.
