How to Control a Mindstorm With a Cell Phone

Controlling your Lego MindStorm robot used to involve complicated remotes. A new application available for Droid cell phones (versions 1.6 and higher) makes the process easier, however. Once a connection is established, you can control the robot's movements simply by tilting and turning your phone. Pressing a button on the phone's screen allows you to turn on the robot's action motor. The controlling phone must be within 3 feet of the robot for the connection to work.

     Download the MindDroid app from the App Market on your Android phone (versions 1.6 and higher).

     Turn on your MindStorm robot. Your phone should automatically detect it.

     Run the program you designed for the robot using your phone. An action button on the phone will control the action motor, and tilting the phone will control the robot's movement.
