How to Take the Air Restrictor Out of a Nerf Longshot

Nerf guns can be great fun for children right out of the box. Many adults also enjoy Nerf guns but often find their power a bit lacking. Several modifications can be done to most Nerf guns that will improve their firepower, but the most common is removing the air restrictor. By taking apart the Nerf Longshot, the air restrictor can be accessed and removed, thus giving you a weapon that will shoot farther and harder.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the Nerf Longshot on a flat, stable work surface and remove all the screws from the plastic casing. The gun should separate into two halves. Place the screws aside in a safe place for reassembly later.

    • 2

Remove the bolt assembly from the casing. The bolt assembly is an elongated orange tube.

    • 3

Remove the metal pin that holds the bolt assembly together and set it aside with the other screws.

    • 4

Locate the air restrictor, which is on the black plastic plunger end of the bolt. Using the wire cutters, remove the three supports that are attached to the circle of plastic over the end of the plunger.

    • 5

Tilt the plunger so the opening is facing down; the rest of the restrictor should slide out.

    • 6

Reassemble the bolt assembly and place it back in the casing, then reassemble the casing.
