Things You'll Need
Instructions
Install batteries in Nerf Nite Finder gun to operate laser vision when finished modifying the gun. Remove all screws from the right side of the Nerf Nite Finder gun and the bottom battery compartment.
Remove the orange Nerf barrel and cylinder assembly (four separate pieces) from the yellow gun housing. Retain the circular restrictor, which looks like a small toilet bowl plunger, and cut a hole with a utility knife or metal file about 2 mm in diameter in the center of the restrictor.
Remove the orange spring and plunger assembly, which is located beneath the barrel and cylinder assembly you just removed. Gently remove the Phillips head screw from the black plunger head, being careful to keep the plunger and o-ring connected. Take the black plunger head unit off of the orange spring. Remove the spring from the orange plunger rod.
Drill a 1/8-inch hole in the orange spring plunger rod and black plunger head with an electric drill. Slide a1spring onto the orange plunger rod. Reattach the black plunger head and rod to the latch spring, reforming the plunger assembly. Drop an M3 nut into the end of the orange plunger rod. Thread an M3 washer onto an M3 25mm screw and screw through the black plunger head and into the nut.
Use a hacksaw to cut away the top third of the barrel assembly tip about 1/4-inch to the right of the first slightly raised ring so that you have about a 1-inch piece of barrel when you are done with a large round ring on one end.
Screw the orange tip on to a 3-inch long piece of 1/2-inch CVPC. Connect the new barrel to the remaining orange barrel assembly with hot glue. Apply hot glue generously to form an airtight seal between the orange barrel assembly and the CVPC pipe. Allow the glue to dry completely.
Lay the modified barrel in the gun housing and reinstall all screws in the bottom battery compartment and side of the gun. Enjoy shooting Nerf darts farther and faster with your modified Nerf gun.
