How to Make Silly Putty Stronger

Silly Putty is a simple, clay-like children's toy that can stretch, bounce or even be squeezed for stress relief. Packaged in plastic eggs, the toy is available in most toy and department stores, but you can make a generic version by combining white glue with borax. If your Silly Putty -- either the commercial kind or the homemade kind -- is too gooey for your taste, you can add borax to strengthen it.

Instructions

    • 1

Roll the Silly Putty around in your hands and stretch it to soften and warm it up.

    • 2

Place the Silly Putty in a bowl. Add a few spoonfuls of borax.

    • 3

Knead the borax into the Silly Putty until the borax is completely incorporated into the putty.

    • 4

Play with the Silly Putty. It will be stronger, but less flexible and not as stretchable.
