How to Disassemble FX Lightsabers

The Star Wars Force FX Lightsabers are the only toy lightsabers licensed by Lucasfilm. They offer a range of sounds and lighting choices. In addition, with each wave of the lightsaber a different sound is emitted. It lights from the bottom up and fades from the top down. Each lightsaber is different, but if you need to disassemble one, you can do so with a few tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the end of the hilt on the FX Lightsaber and unscrew the battery cap with the Phillips screwdriver. Place the screws in a safe place. Remove the battery pack.

    • 2

Unscrew the screws at the top of the handle with the Phillips screwdriver. Unscrew any decorative items or small parts attached to the handle with the Phillips screwdriver. Each FX Lightsaber is different, so different parts may be attached at different locations. Search for any screws holding the lightsaber to parts or together and unscrew them.

    • 3

Remove the screw securing the covering of the power switch toward the middle of the lightsaber with the Phillips screwdriver. Lift the power switch out of the lightsaber and cut its connecting wires with the wire cutter.

    • 4

Pull the blade assembly out of the handle. Lift the tape that connects the halves of the electronics housing.

    • 5

Pull out the two pins that secure the blade in place. Pull the blade up from the internal LED panel. Remove the LED panel by cutting its wires from the circuit board using the wire cutter.
