Instructions
Walk the Dog
Position the yo-yo correctly. With your right hand facing upward, place the yo-yo upright like a wheel in your palm. The end of the yo-yo string should come up over the top of the yo-yo and attach to your center finger.
Move your arm straight back as if you're flexing your muscles, with your hand curled right next to your ear and your elbow pointing directly ahead.
Bring your arm down briskly, straightening your elbow with a "snapping" movement. At the same time allow the yo-yo to release out over your fingers.
Lower the yo-yo slowly toward the floor. The yo-yo should continue spinning in the air. Hold the string so that the yo-yo hovers just above the floor without fully touching the surface.
Walk forward slowly with the yo-yo ahead of you. The yo-yo should move forward, pulled by the force of its spinning. When you see the yo-yo slow down, turn your hand with the palm upward and jerk your hand to bring the yo-yo back to its starting position.
Flying Saucer
Position the yo-yo in your right palm in an upright position, with the string attached to your center finger.
Straighten your elbow quickly across your body, tossing the yo-yo from your hand in a diagonal direction. The yo-yo should swing to the left in an arc, similar to a clock's pendulum.
Use your left hand to grab the string when the yo-yo is at the top of its swinging arc, at a point about four or five inches above the yo-yo.
Lift the yo-yo so that it's hovering at a level higher than your right hand. The string should be pulled taut between your two hands at a slight upward angle, with the yo-yo itself dangling from the left hand.
Let go of the yo-yo string with your left hand. The yo-yo should zip back to its original starting point in your right palm, creating a "flying saucer" effect.
