How to Store Nitro Fuel

Nitro fuel is a poisonous chemical that is used to power radio controlled cars equipped with a glow plug engine. The fuel works similar to gasoline for automobiles but is not available at service stations. Nitro fuel is highly flammable and you must store it properly to keep it from exploding. The chemical also contains Methanol, which gives off dangerous vapors and evaporates quickly into the air. It is important to keep Nitro fuel away from children. If consumed, it can cause death.

• Metal can: coffee can or similar metal container

     Remove the cap on your nitro fuel's bottle and squeeze the bottle to remove any excess air from the container. Place the cap back on the bottle and tighten it with an old cloth or rag.

     Place the bottle in a metal coffee can or similar metal container in an upright position. The metal will shield the fuel from any light including sunlight, which is harmful to the fuel.

     Store the container on a cool, dry shelf in a room with a constant temperature, out of direct sunlight and open flames.
