How to Add Speakers to Power Wheels

Adding speakers to a Power Wheels vehicle is basically the same as adding a speaker to a regular car. The only difference is that Power Wheels vehicles do not have custom cutout spots for the speakers. Due to the size of Power Wheels vehicles, small speakers should be used, such as satellite speakers. Satellite speakers are compact and they come with their own enclosure. This provides for a number of mounting methods. These speakers can also be detachable for storage out of the weather.

Things You'll Need

  • 2 satellite speakers
  • Speaker wire
  • 6-volt radio with external speaker connections.
  • Wire cutters
  • Wire strippers
  • Industrial strength Velcro

Instructions

    • 1

Pick two relatively flat spots for the satellite speakers. Attach Velcro to the bottom of each speaker and the Power Wheels vehicle. Push the speakers down into place on the vehicle. Industrial strength Velcro is very strong and will allow for easy removal of the speakers when needed.

    • 2

Run the speaker wire along the middle portion of the Power Wheels frame. They can be run under the vehicle, but they would have to be tightly secured to the vehicle to keep the wires from catching something in the yard.

    • 3

Place the radio in an easy to access location and secure it to the Power Wheels frame using screws. Connect the positive and negative speaker output terminals to each of the two speakers. Run a positive and negative wire from the radio's power terminals to the 6-volt battery. Connect the positive wire to the positive terminal of the battery and connect the negative wire to the negative terminal of the battery. Turn on the radio and check for sound.
