Things You'll Need
Instructions
Loop the yoyo string around your middle finger. Make sure the string goess over the top of the yoyo and underneath your middle finger. If the string is wound the opposite way, you will not be able to throw the yoyo.
Hold the yoyo in your palm and curl your hand up to your ear so your elbow is pointing out in front of you. Make sure the yoyo is held toward your shoulder. A good amount of curl in the arm and wrist will help you launch the yoyo more successfully.
Throw the yoyo out in front of you by bringing your arm down, letting the yoyo launch directly over your fingertips, palm up. Generate the spin of the yoyo by snapping your wrist. The harder the snap, the faster your yoyo will spin.
Let the yoyo spin at the bottom of the unwound string. This is called "sleeping."
Turn your hand over and give the string a slight tug. The yoyo will climb the string and return to the palm of your hand.
Practice as much as you can. The ability to accurately control the yoyo when it is "sleeping" is important when executing more complicated tricks. eg. "Walking the dog" is when you make the yoyo sleep, then gently place the yoyo on the ground and let it run along the ground.
