How to Make LEGO War Helmets

Legos are versatile toys that boys and girls, as well as adults, enjoy using to both reflect reality and to create fictional worlds. As children learn about past wars, including WWI and WWII, they may desire to re-create battle scenes with their Lego toys. War helmets for soldiers can easily be created using parts from other popular Lego sets.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach a pair of gray Lego pants to a gray Lego body. Attach a Lego figurine head to the gray Lego body.

    • 2

Purchase a set of WWII decals from an authorized Lego retailer, or use black and white acrylic paint and a small paintbrush (or fine point black marker) to create a black line that loops across the figurine's face from one ear to the other. Use decals or paint two black rectangles along the collar of the gray body; after the paint or ink dries, paint two thick white lines on top of the black rectangles. Paint a black belt around the waist of the figurine's body.

    • 3

Create a war helmet for your figurine by using a helmet from a Lego Star Wars Hoth battle pack. Remove the helmet from one of the Hoth soldiers and use a utility knife to cut away its long back ends.

    • 4

Use an emery board to smooth out the rough edges from where you cut away material. Wipe the helmet with a damp cloth. You may also use a firefighter's helmet and turn it into a war helmet by filing down the raised edges on the top and long back end with an emery board. If desired, you may paint the helmet army green with acrylic paint or a green permanent marker.

Attach the helmet to the figurine's head. Repeat steps for as many war helmets as are needed.
