How to Make a Kazoo With Waxed Paper

Making musical instruments is a good way to pass a boring day with kids. Take a household object you already have in the house, an empty toilet paper tube, and recycle it into a kazoo for kids. It's a good way to recycle and will give your kids something to do. Encourage them to use items around the house to put together an entire band.

Instructions

    • 1

Poke a hole on one side of the toilet paper roll, using a sharp pencil. Make the hole roughly 2 inches from one end of the roll.

    • 2

Cut a piece of waxed paper that's a bit larger than the hole so it will fit over the hole comfortably. Place the waxed paper over the hole covering one end of the toilet paper tube.

    • 3

Slide a rubber band over the waxed paper to secure it to the toilet paper roll.

    • 4

Play the kazoo by putting your mouth on the open end of the roll and blowing, humming or singing into it. See how many different sounds you can create by altering your vocal sounds.
