How to Build a LEGO Pirate

LEGO toys inspire creativity and imagination. Sets are available for a wide range of motifs, including pirates. If you want to build a LEGO pirate, it helps to have a LEGO pirate set handy. You can use your generic LEGOs, however, and customize them with some pirate accessories. There is no right or wrong way to create a LEGO pirate, but the process is easier if you spend a few moments planning what you want your pirate to look like.

Permanent black marker
Model paint

  Brainstorm a basic design for your LEGO pirates. To inspire ideas, look at pre-built pirates. Visit your local toy store and look at the LEGO pirate sets. Additionally, Internet video sites, such as YouTube, contain videos with LEGO pirates and the LEGO pirates website shows pictures.

  Choose a face. Pirates spend the majority of their time at sea, so they tend to be scruffy and disheveled. Sort through your LEGO collection for a head that has a mustache or beard and/or messy hair. Consider using black paint or a permanent market to give your LEGO pirate an eye patch.

  Choose a body. If you have a plain white body in your LEGO collection you can paint it to look like a pirate shirt. Many pre-built LEGO pirates wear a tank top with horizontal stripes. Fit the head to the body.

  Add a pair of LEGO legs. If you have LEGO pirate accessories handy, choose the legs that have a peg leg. If this is not available, use a standard pair of legs such as white or black.

  Customize your LEGO pirate with accessories. LEGO offers many accessories for pirates including pirate hats, swords and hooks for hands. You may need to purchase a LEGO pirate set for these accessories.
