Instructions
Charge the helicopter fully. Each helicopter model will have a different style of charging. Some of the helicopters connect to the remote itself by a cord stored in the remote. Other helicopters have landing pads with charger connections. These helicopters only fly for a few minutes on one charge. Having a fully charged helicopter will provide you the longest flying time and best performance.
Verify that the helicopter and the remote control are set to the same frequency setting. Each helicopter will have between two and three frequencies. Match the letter on the helicopter to the controller. If the two frequencies are not matched the helicopter will not work.
Stand back and give the helicopter plenty of room. Air Hogs suggests standing back at least 15 feet for takeoff. Giving more room to the helicopter will allow for adjusting the controls without the helicopter crashing into objects.
Lift the helicopter by pressing the left control stick forward smoothly and under control. Pressing the left control stick all the way forward will make the helicopter rise quickly and out of control. Once the helicopter reaches a reasonable height, reduce the pressure on the left control stick and have the helicopter hover.
Adjust the trim on the helicopter. While the helicopter is hovering it may spin in one direction or the other. The trim is below the right control stick. Adjust the trim until the helicopter is no longer spinning.
Control the helicopter. The right stick will control the right or left movement. Make slow, steady movements. Moving the stick too forcefully will cause the helicopter to veer and possibly crash. Small movements of the stick will make the helicopter change directions smoothly.
Practice. It will take many charges and attempts to get the helicopter to do what you want it to do. Do not lose patience. Once you have the touch for the controls the flying is much more enjoyable.
