Things You'll Need
Instructions
Secure a lawnmower. For you to build a Go Kart, the lawnmower's engine must be working and have no damage. Check to see if the engine will start up before you purchase.
Remove the blade flap. Do this by loosening the screws--use the appropriate screw driver--that secures it in place. Blade flaps are usually located at the bottom of a lawnmower.
Detach the engine. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts that attaches the engine to the lawnmower deck. After doing so, remove all the cords and wires that connect the engine to the handlebar or the deck. While doing this task, remember to familiarize the positions of the items before you dismantled it. The engine will be reattached later.
Assemble the panel, steering wheel, and the seat. Mount the panel to the deck by drilling four holes (two on both tubes) of the deck. Use a bolt and a wrench to secure the panel in place. Next, attach the seat to the deck by using the same method to attach the wood panel to the deck. Attach the steering mechanism to the center of the shaft that connects the front wheels. Use a welding kit or a bolt to secure the steering wheel in place.
Make a bracket out of the stainless steel sheet that will secure the engine in its 90 degree position. This would let you use the engine and attach chains and cogs to it easily.
Attach a cog to the mowers drive shaft and its axle shaft. Connect the two cogs by the chain. Mount the gas tube to the mower's carburetor. Replace all the connections as it was before you disassembled the mower. Fuel it up with some gas and you are now ready to have fun.
