Things You'll Need
Instructions
Build your car kit according to the directions because any alterations you make will change the speed and accuracy of the car which, in turn, can change the way it performs in competition.
Use lightweight oil instead of heavy oil or grease to lubricate the gears so that they turn freely. Check the fastenings of all gears and turn them to make sure that they can turn freely.
Tune your car by running it in a straight line and make any adjustments to the wheels or gears as necessary to be sure that the car will run straight on a racecourse.
Tune your gas engine before starting it. If you do not know how to do this, log-on to Racecar Tips (see Resources) and download a free instructional e-book. This will explain the best way to tune your engine. When buying your engine, choose the 2-speed transmission for better control and more speed in gas engines.
Place the motor in a tank of water. Attach a 3-volt battery to it while it is in the water. Allow the battery to dry overnight and add two drops of lightweight oil on the bushings.
