How to Do Easy Scooter Tricks

Scooter tricks do not have to be complicated to perform. Be aware of your surroundings and practice in a safe area away from passing cars or nearby objects that you could hurt yourself on if you lose your balance. Always practice when someone is with you, so they can help if you do hurt yourself.

Instructions

  1. The bunny hop

    • 1

Motion the scooter forward by kicking your foot along the ground, while your other foot is on the foot deck of the scooter.

    • 2

Grip the handlebars tightly and pull upward approximately 3 inches.

    • 3

Jump with both feet on the foot deck at the same time.

    The tail whip

    • 4

Hold the handlebars with both hands. Position your right foot on the ground and your left foot on the foot deck.

    • 5

Lift your left foot off the foot deck and rotate the deck clockwise. Catch the foot deck as it rotates toward you, place the foot deck on the ground, and stand on it with both feet.

    • 6

Practice this maneuver standing still until you feel comfortable enough to perform the same maneuver while you are riding the scooter. Jump up with both feet and land on the foot pad as it rotates toward you.

    The 180-degree flip-around and 360-degree flip-around

    • 7

Grip both hands on the handlebar. While you are moving forward, lift up on the handlebars and jump at the same time, keeping your feet flush with the foot deck.

    • 8

Jump and turn 180 degrees to the right. Repeat the same process and jump 180 degrees to the left.

    • 9

Practice until you are comfortable and then progress to the 360 turn to jump completely around.

    The one-footed manual

    • 10

Place your right foot on the foot deck. Grip the handlebars tightly and propel forward using your left foot.

    • 11

Lift up the handlebars and balance with one foot on the foot deck as the scooter rolls forward.

    • 12

Help maintain your balance by moving your left foot back and forth as needed.

    The Ollie

    • 13

Grab the handlebars firmly and bring them up to your chest while jumping.

    • 14

Bend your knees and keep your feet on the foot deck.

    • 15

This is important for more advanced tricks using ramps.
