Original Cube
Learn how to solve a three-by-three Rubik's Cube before attempting a four-by-four cube. Knowing the basic ideas behind solving the original cube will help you immensely when attempting to solve a four-by-four cube.
Centers and Edges
Solve the four center blocks on all six sides of the Rubik's Cube. Make sure to place the colors in the proper places (on a traditional cube, yellow is opposite white, blue is opposite green and red is opposite orange). After this is completed, solve for each of the edge pieces, thus virtually transforming your four-by-four cube into a three-by-three cube.
Solving the Cube
Solve the four-by-four Rubik's Cube as you would a three-by-three Rubik's Cube. Start by solving one color, and then work your way down from that color. Make sure not to misplace the pieces that are already in their proper place while working your way down. Learning the proper algorithms to accomplish this will take time and patience.
