Unique Indoor Swings for Kids

Swinging is pure pleasure for kids, the opportunity to experience something like flying using a simple suspended seat and the power of their own legs (or a grownup pushing them). As long as you have the space, and a sufficiently sturdy door frame or ceiling to hang it from, you can buy or make an indoor swing. With an indoor swing, your kids can experience the joy of swinging in all weathers.
  1. Nature Swing

    • Bring the magic of the outdoors inside with a swing whose seat is shaped and painted to resemble a large leaf, or whose handles have butterflies perched on the ropes. If you want, you can make this part of a tree house-themed playroom, whose walls are painted to look like branches and leaves, with a blue sky and fluffy clouds ceiling. Tell the kids they can only play on the indoor swing when all their toys are put away so the "tree house" is uncluttered, and they will quickly put playthings on shelves or in toy chests.

    Tent Swing

    • Kids love tiny, kid-size private spaces as much as they love to swing. Combine the two with an enclosed tent swing and you have the recipe for childhood delight. Make the platform of the tent large enough that your child can invite a friend or sibling to join him inside his gravity-defying tent. If you're a DIY type, add tent windows so kids can look out and see what their parents are up to. Add as many imaginative elements to the outside of the tent as you want, decorating it with flowers and fairies or exotic animals.

    Ship Swing

    • Hang a two-child swing that looks like a ship in any room where you have space, and watch it attract small children. They can sail the seven seas of their imagination in this ship, complete with a sail and even an anchor. If your child is truly enamored of anything to do with the ocean or pirates, you can build a playroom theme around this ship, with murals on the walls showing ocean waves, a pirate chest on a sandy shore, sea shells on the beach, or sea creatures and mermaids cavorting beneath the waves.
