How to Use a Tech Deck Toy

A tech deck is like a miniature skateboard operated by fingers. Also called a fingerboard, it has a rough surface for the top of the board, graphics on the bottom and four wheels just like a real skateboard. The piece that holds the wheels onto the fingerboard is called a truck. Each board is at least approximately 2 1/2 inches long and the widths vary too. The tech deck is usually sold in a package with tools and replacement wheels.

Instructions

  1. General Rules

    • 1

Place your index finger and middle finger on the top of the board and push it forward and backward.

    • 2

Push the tail end of the board down with your middle finger until it scrapes the surface enough to stop the tech deck.

    • 3

Replace the wheels when necessary with new wheels from the Tech Deck package. Unscrew and remove each nut off the trucks using the mini-tool provided with the package. Take the loosened wheels off then place all four new wheels onto the trucks, one at a time. Screw each nut onto the trucks to secure each wheel in place.

    Ollie Trick

    • 4

Place your middle finger on top of the deck. Place your index finger underneath the board behind the front truck and your ring finger underneath the board behind the rear truck.

    • 5

Push the deck toward an object such as a book. Push your middle finger toward the end of the board near your ring finger and push down. Lift up the front of your board with your index finger and lift your board to jump over the book.

    • 6

Jump your board over to the other side of the book. Land on the entire board with all four of your wheels and you have completed the ollie stunt.

    Skateboard Park

    • 7

Cut off the top and bottom of a milk jug at the handle, which will leave you with a "U" shape for the ramp.

    • 8

Place the ramp in between two books and ride the deck back and forth on the ramp trying out tricks. Cut the bottoms off of paper cups to make tunnels.

    • 9

Cut a slant off the top off an empty toilet paper roll. Tape one end of long piece of narrow cardboard to the top of the roll so the cardboard slants at a 45-degree angle. This will form a second simple ramp for the park.
