How to Start an RC Airplane

Men and women of different ages love to play RC airplanes in order to get the feel of driving a plane. Although the miniature models do not come close to flying a real airplane, controlling an RC airplane is still a good exercise for practicing flight technique and maneuver skills. For first-time users of an RC airplane, some of the buttons on the remote control can cause confusion.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench
  • Jug of plane fuel with fuel lines
  • Small wooden stick

Instructions

    • 1

Check if the propeller and glow plug of the RC airplane are securely attached to their positions by tightening them with a wrench.

    • 2

Disconnect the plane's fuel line from its carb and connect it to your fuel jug's supply line. Wait for the fuel tank to fill up before disconnecting the line.

    • 3

Turn on the needle valve of the RC plane by turning it twice in a counterclockwise direction or according to the specific instructions for your model. Turn the plane's radio on without connecting its glow igniter.

    • 4

Use the Tx throttle stick to open the airplane's throttle while you place your finger right at the carb opening. You will find the throttle stick on the left side of the remote control. This will help you control the altitude and increase the motor speed and engine of the RC airplane. Rotate the plane's propeller and allow the fuel to draw up to the carb's position.

    • 5

Turn the propeller a few more times until the fuel gets into the engine. Remove your finger while you continue to flip the RC airplane propeller.

    • 6

Configure the throttle settings and make sure that it is partially open while you attach the glow plug igniter to the plane's engine.

    • 7

Flip the plane prop right past its engine compression point with the stick and wait for the engine to start. Shift to full throttle and close the needle valve.
