How to Solve a Rubik's Cube Really Fast

The Rubik's Cube was invented by Erno Rubik in 1974 as a tool to teach his students at the Academy of Applied Arts and Crafts in Budapest about 3D geometry and construction combinations. The most common form of the Rubik's Cube has three rows and columns. But now, two-by-two, four-by-four and five-by-five models in addition to a variety of different types of Rubik's brand puzzle games are sold on the official Rubik's website.

Instructions

  1. How To Quickly Solve The Rubik's Cube

    • 1

Learn the proper terminology for the parts of your Rubik's cube. The immobile pieces in the middle of the sides of the cube are center pieces. The eight pieces on the corners (with three sides) are called corner pieces. The pieces in the middle of the outside rows and columns are called edges pieces (two sides).

    • 2

Complete one face of the cube making sure that the colors on the side of the blocks line up. If the colors on the sides of the blocks that make up the finished face do not match up, you cannot complete the rest of the cube.

    • 3

Maneuver the edge pieces on the adjacent sides of the finished face into the proper places one by one. Make sure to return the pieces of the finished face back to their proper places when putting the edge pieces into their places. There are multiple algorithms for accomplishing this feat.

    • 4

Put the four corner pieces in their proper places on the unsolved layer of the Rubik's Cube. Again, there are several algorithms for doing this without screwing up what you already have finished.

    • 5

Finish the cube by maneuvering the remaining four edge pieces until they are in their proper place. You will be able to do this by maneuvering only the center columns and the bottom row (if you are holding the cube with the unfinished side pointing down).
