How to Make a BattleBot Out of Household Materials

Battle robots have gained social popularity in the last few years, with local competitions and international television shows alike urging robot enthusiasts to build ever more deadly mechanical minions to destroy one another.

Building your own battlebot doesn't need to be an expensive venture; as a matter of fact, you can construct a fairly decent armored, weaponized robot of your own from household items in a matter of a few hours.

Things You'll Need

  • Remote-control car
  • Cross-tip screwdriver
  • 8 six-inch iron nails
  • Epoxy
  • Aluminum cans
  • Metal shears

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the decorative cover of the RC car with the screwdriver, and set it aside.

    • 2

Lay two iron nails side-by-side on the flat upper surface of the RC car, so that the pointy ends jut forward beyond the front wheels of the car.

    • 3

Lay the other six nails, in pairs of 2, on the right, left, and rear edges of the RC car, so that their pointy ends form deadly spikes around the edge of the car.

    • 4

Epoxy the nails in place, and allow the epoxy to dry.

    • 5

Cut the tops and bottoms off several aluminum cans with the metal shears, and unroll the remaining aluminum to form flat rectangles.

    • 6

Epoxy the sheets of aluminum metal to the exposed surfaces of the battlbot to form armor. Be careful not to obstruct the car's wheels or the antennae, and allow at least an hour for the epoxy to dry thoroughly.
