How to Seal a Soft Plastic Ball

Plastic balls can break often because of their weak structure and material. They most often break when they are deliberately misused or played with in a manner other than what is intended by the manufacturer; of course; overuse can be a culprit as well. When damaged, instead of purchasing a new soft plastic ball it is much easier and cheaper to seal the damaged area yourself using an air bed patch.

Things You'll Need

  • Air bed patching kit
  • Spray bottle
  • Dish soap
  • Drying cloth

Instructions

    • 1

Make a mixture of half dish soap to half water in a spray bottle. If the damaged spot is not visible, spray the ball with the soapy mixture. Push down on the ball; this will cause the air to leak out forcefully and the soap will bubble at the damaged spot aiding you in locating it.

    • 2

Wipe the surrounding area dry by using a drying cloth or you may also allow to air dry. Cut the air bed patch to the desired length and peel the backing off of the patch. Hold the patch on the edges to prevent smudging and weakening the glue side.

    • 3

Apply the patch to the surface over the hole or tear. Start at the top of the hole or tear and slowly work your way down, applying the patch evenly. Press firmly and let sit for about 5 minutes to fully seal the tear. Your soft plastic ball will now be properly sealed.
