How to Remove Hard Clamshell Packaging

Hard "clamshell" plastic packaging has its pros and cons. Clamshell packaging is well-liked by manufacturers because it helps reduce breakage on transit. Retailers prefer it because it helps reduce shoplifting. Consumers, however, don't share the love for this type of packaging. The casing can be hard to open and has caused injuries. Also, the plastic used is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which is harmful to humans and the environment.

New tools are on the market to open clamshell packaging. However, sharp garden pruners and other tools may work just as well.
