Things You'll Need
Instructions
Take out the hardware that came with your nerf bars, setting the actual nerf bars aside for later. Check the nerf bar instruction manual to make sure you have all the parts.
Clear your working area to make sure it is free of debris. You will need to lie on the ground to install your nerf bars.
Take one of the front brackets, a J-Bolt, two bolts, two lock washers and two flat washers and slide under the front side of the truck you will be working on. The "L" bracket goes on the left side, and the "R" bracket goes on the right side.
Find the lowest hole on the inside front of the truck. Place the bracket over the hole and bolt it loosely in place.
Take one of the rear brackets, two bolts, two nuts, four flat washers and two lock washers. Bolt the rear bracket loosely to the inside of the truck in the hole over the rear tire, in line with the front bracket.
Locate the appropriate nerf bar (right or left) for the side where you just installed the brackets.
Lie on your back and use a bolt, a lock washer and a flat washer to attach each end of the nerf bar to its respective bracket. Thread the bolts just far enough to hold the nerf bar in place.
Tighten the bolts further until they are snug, after you have fastened both ends.
Fasten tightly the front and rear brackets you installed earlier. Be careful not to overtighten.
Repeat to install the nerf bar on the opposite side of the truck.
