How to Reboot a Furby 2

Furby toys were a sensation when they first premiered at the American International Toy Fair in 1998. These toys interact with the owner and can say simple, nonsensical phrases when the belly or back of the electronic toy is rubbed or scratched. Furby 2, which is the later model of the original residents of Furby Island, can sometimes malfunction and must be rebooted. There are two methods that can be attempted: a reset and restart. The reset should be attempted first as a restart will cause the Furby to lose all the English it has learned.

Reset Furby 2

  Turn the Furby over and locate the reset button, which is located near the battery compartment.

  Locate a pointed object small enough to fit into the small hole that houses the button, such as a small screwdriver or pen.

  Hold the pointed object on the reset button for two seconds. This method can be attempted when the Furby 2 will not turn on or if the words the Furby speaks become out of sync with the movement of the mouth.
Restart Furby 2

  Turn the Furby 2 upside down.

  Hold the tongue switch down, which is found inside of the Furby's mouth.

  Press the reset button with a pointed object at the same time the tongue switch is being held down. This should be attempted only after a reset has failed.
