How to Flatten a Rolled, Creased Poster

A poster is usually a large, thin sheet of paper that is inconvenient to transport around in its natural form. Posters are easily rolled up and tied together with a rubber band. This is an easier way to carry around a poster without tearing or wrinkling the paper. If the poster has been rolled up for a long period of time, however, the corners of the poster may remain curled up even after it is unrolled. When this happens, the poster must be flattened before it can be properly hung on a wall.

Things You'll Need

  • Large hard surface
  • 4 to 5 large books

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the rubber band, and unroll the poster.

    • 2

Place the poster on a large hard surface. The poster's corners should be curling toward the surface.

    • 3

Place a large heavy book on each corner and in the middle of the poster. Text books and dictionaries work well to flatten posters. Leave the books on the poster for 24 hours.

    • 4

Remove the books from the poster, and check to see if the corners have flattened. If the corners are still curled, place the books back on the poster, and leave them there for a few more hours.

    • 5

Hang the now flattened poster on a wall with thumb tacks or sticky tabs.
