How to Clean a Marshmallow Shooter

Marshmallow shooters, also called marshmallow guns, are children's toys that use forced air to shoot marshmallows at opponents. Marshmallows are placed in the end of the barrel and ejected either by blowing on the opposite end of the gun or by pulling a trigger. If marshmallows are left inside the gun on hot days, they will melt, and the shooter will need to be cleaned. Cleaning marshmallow shooters is similar whether they are store-bought or homemade.

Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble the marshmallow shooter using the manufacture's instructions. In general, you will twist one section counterclockwise and then pull it straight off the shooter. If you have a homemade marshmallow shooter, you typically pull each PVC connector straight out without twisting.

    • 2

Turn on the hot water faucet of a sink. Allow the water to run through each of the tubes to dislodge any stuck marshmallow. Discard any marshmallows that fall into the sink.

    • 3

Fill the sink with warm water and 1 to 2 teaspoons of dish soap. Place each piece of the marshmallow shooter in the sink. Allow the pieces to soak for approximately 10 minutes.

    • 4

Insert a bottle brush into the barrel and the other pieces. Scrub the inside of the pieces to remove any sticky marshmallow residue.

    • 5

Rinse the pieces with clean water to remove all traces of the soap.

    • 6

Dry off all easily accessible areas of the marshmallow shooter with a towel. Allow the shooter to air dry for one to two hours to allow all internal moisture to evaporate.
