How to Make a Transformer Toy

Modern children's toys tend to be high-tech gadgets or video games. However, classic games, like paper transformer toys, can help children use their imagination and creativity. According to child development specialists, toys without batteries or plugs help kids engage on a different level. Unstructured play develops intellectual, emotional, and social skills that are necessary for a child's growth.

    • 1

Divide paper into eight horizontal strips of 3 cm each. Cut into eight strips.

    • 2

Mark off each strip into sections of 5 cm, 4 cm and 3 cm.

    • 3

Fold on 5 cm, 4 cm &3 cm marks to form a triangle. Tape closed.

    • 4

Lay each triangle on the 4 cm side. Form two columns of four triangles each with the 3 cm sides facing each other.

    • 5

Tape the first and second triangle in the first column along the 5 cm side. We'll now refer to this section as A.

    • 6

Repeat with the third and fourth triangle, which we'll now call B.

    • 7

Repeat with the second column, taping the first and second triangles together to form section C and the third and fourth together to create section D.

    • 8

Tape A and B along the 3 cm side. Then tape C and D along the 3 cm side.

    • 9

Hold the two columns of papers side by side with the 3 cm side up and the 4 cm sides touching. Tape together the bottom section, making the two 3 cm sections form a 6 cm side.

    • 10

      Repeat with the top section.

    • 11

Now the whole thing can transform into a variety of forms and shapes, just by moving and twisting it.
