Things You'll Need
Instructions
Clamp the PVC end cap in the C clamp, and saw it in half with a hack saw width-wise to form an end cap and a ring. Dip these pieces in black paint, and allow them to dry.
Clamp the PVC coupler in the C clamp, and saw it at an angle with the hack saw. Dip this piece in black paint and allow it to dry.
Clamp the bicycle post into the C clamp and shorten the length of the tube to between 12 and 14 inches, depending on your preferred light saber size. Saw the end so that the angle is the same as the angle that you sawed into the PVC coupler. Cut a slot for your Lego brick and drill holes to attach the decorative caps.
Smooth the rough edges of all parts with the file.
Cut the weather stripping into equal-sized lengths to form a comfortable grip length for your light saber handle cover. Leave each strip slightly longer than the desired finished length. Remove the backing from each strip just before you apply it to the bicycle tube's base. Apply each strip lengthwise around the end of the tube opposite the angled cut. The bottom of each strip should be a quarter inch away from the end of the light saber. Space each strip equally apart from one another. Use the box cutter to trim each strip so that they are even with one another.
Place the PVC end cap on the end of the handle below the weather stripping. Drill four small holes in the end cap where it touches the tube. The holes should go through the end cap and into the chrome of the tube.
Place the ring that you have cut from the end cap around the upper end of the tube so that the angled cut aligns with the tube. Drill two holes through the PVC and into the chrome to hold the ring in place. Screw machine screws through these holes.
Hold the D-Ring mount against the PVC end cap of the light saber and mark the location where the D-ring mounts will attach. Drill holes in the end cap to match these attachments. Remove the PVC end cap. Attach the D-Ring by running the mounting screw through the hole and attaching the washers and nuts to the screw on the back side of the end cap. Place the end-cap back on the light saber and align the drill holes. Screw machine screws through these holes and into the tube.
Clip the threaded tube into the C-Clamp and saw off two 3/8 inch pieces. Screw these into the drill holes for the decorative end caps using pliers. Screw the decorative end caps over these pieces.
Slip the Lego into the slot so that the ridged upper part of the brick is all that is visible above the slot. Glue the brick into place with epoxy.
Remove the plastic base and pins from the electron tube using a pair of pliers. Take care not to shatter the electron tube. Coat the sides of the tube with epoxy to hold it in place and slip the tube into the front end of the light saber so that the curved top is level with the bottom part of the PVC ring.
