TV or DVD Player
Open the bottom of the Star Station with a Phillips head screwdriver and insert 6 "C" batteries; use the screwdriver to close the compartment. Use the screwdriver to open the battery compartment on the microphone and put 3 "AAA" batteries in it. You must place batteries into the station so you can test its connection to the TV or DVD player.
Put the Star Station next to your TV, but not on it, according to the Fisher-Price Star Station instruction manual.
Turn the power dial on the Star Station to "off" and turn the TV and DVD player off.
Match the colors of the audio/video cable to the jacks on the back of the Star Station and the TV or DVD player. White will match up to the "Left Audio In," red to the "Right Audio In" and yellow to the "Video In" jacks. Plug in the cables.
Insert a cartridge in the Star Station slot and turn the power dial to "On." Turn the TV and DVD player on before changing the channel so it is on the "Input" screen.
Stand your child 5 feet in front of the TV and aim the lens on the Star Station at him. He should now appear on the TV and will be ready to turn on his microphone so he can sing with the cartridges.
CD Player
Turn the power dial to "off" and turn off the CD player. Do not put a cartridge in the Star Station yet.
Place the tip of the audio cord in the CD jack labeled "Line out" and the other end into the Star Station jack labeled "Input."
Turn the CD player on before turning on the Star Station and adjust the volume on the CD player.
