How to Design a Tech Deck for Free

Stop fingerboarding around on someone else's Tech Deck and design your own. Although Tech Decks are small in size, you can still create a custom deck to show off to your competition. The bottom of your deck can feature your own artwork while the top can have grip tape patterns that conform to your trick style. Designing a Tech Deck does not have to cost you any money, and you can translate your completed design into a custom deck.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw two rectangles measuring 3.78-by-1.02 inches on a sheet of white paper. This is the size of a standard Tech Deck.

    • 2

Write "Top" next to one rectangle and "Bottom" next to the other. Each rectangle represents one of the deck's faces.

    • 3

Create a drawing or design on the bottom rectangle. Make the drawing look like graffiti or base it off of a favorite art style or picture. Cut and paste small images to create a collage.

    • 4

Map out the look of the grip tape on the top rectangle. Draw circles where your fingers are generally positioned and only have these parts covered in tape, or create geometric patterns that you can cut from the the tape.

    • 5

Add additional drawings or colors to any area on the top face of the deck that will not be covered by grip tape.

    • 6

Draw two horizontal lines, 2 inches apart, elsewhere on the paper. Make each line about 1 inch long and parallel to the other line. These lines represent your Tech Deck's trucks.

    • 7

Draw a small oval on the end of each line to represent the wheels. Color in each oval the color you want the wheels to be. Use a uniform color or have each wheel a different color.
