How to Shrink Wrap CDs at Home

Before you mail a CD to a friend or a customer, you will want to make sure it is packaged correctly. Not only do you want to make sure the CD will not be bent, but you want to protect it from any potential spills. Fortunately, you can purchase shrink wrap bags to shrink wrap the CDs. The extra plastic wrapping will also make the CD package look like it is new. Shrink wrapping CDs must be done carefully so that the shrink wrap doesn't rip.

Instructions

    • 1

Purchase a set of small shrink wrap bags. Medium or large shrink wrap bags will have too much plastic to make a nice fit around a CD.

    • 2

Place the CD in the shrink wrap bag and push it in as far as it will go.

    • 3

Turn the sealer on and allow it to heat up for five minutes. Set the open end of the shrink wrap bag in it and press down. This will seal the open end shut and cut off any excess plastic.

    • 4

Turn a hair dryer to the high heat setting or use a heat gun to shrink the shrink wrap bag snugly around the CD. Do this by moving your hair dryer or heat gun in a sweeping motion across the front, back and sides of the CD.

    • 5

Tighten up any loose spots by sweeping the hair dryer across the area.
