How to Repair a Plastic Pool

A plastic or vinyl pool is a small pool that can be easily set up and disassembled. They are typically small wading pools, usually only 1 to 3 feet deep. Some have walls that can be inflated, while others just have soft walls that lift and stay in place as water is added to the pool. A small hole in the pool can can occur from rough play or coming into contact with a sharp object, such as a branch or rock. A hole can cause the pool to become deflated, or allow water to leak out. However, small holes are easy to patch and fix. If the hole is large, the plastic pool can not be fixed.

Instructions

    • 1

Drain all water from the pool.

    • 2

Wipe the area to be patched with a soft, damp cloth to clean it of all buildup. Dry the area with a towel.

    • 3

Cut the patch to size, using scissors. The patch should be at least 1/2 inch bigger than the hole.

    • 4

Remove the paper backing from the patch. Place the patch, sticky-side down, over the hole. Press down firmly for at least 30 seconds. Do not add water or more air to the pool for at least 30 minutes. If possible, you should allow the patch to strengthen overnight.
