How to Make a Tech Deck Ramp Out of Wood

Skaters can trick off obstacles found inside and outside skate parks. When using a Tech Deck fingerboard, you also can trick off the same obstacles on a smaller scale. Official Tech Deck skate park equipment, such as rails and bowls, are available to buy or you can make your own. Use wood to fashion a Tech Deck ramp for boards to trick up and over. Ramps can be added to an existing Tech Deck skate park or used as the central piece to a homemade park.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw an 8-inch horizontal line across the sheet of wood.

    • 2

Draw a 4-inch line vertically from the right point of the horizontal line.

    • 3

Connect the left point of the horizontal line to the top point of the vertical line with a straight line. The connecting line should measure 8.98 inches.

    • 4

Draw a second identical triangle on the wood sheet.

    • 5

Draw a rectangle on the wood sheet so that two parallel sides measure 8.98 inches, and the other two sides each measure 3 inches.

    • 6

Draw another rectangle on the wood with a length of 8 inches and a width of 3 inches.

    • 7

Draw another rectangle on the wood sheet with a length of 4 inches and a width of 3 inches

    • 8

Cut along the sides of each shape with a circular saw.

    • 9

Sand both faces of each piece to smooth them.

    • 10

Place the 3-by-8-inch rectangle in front of you.

    • 11

Apply a line of wood glue to the edges of the 8-inch sides of both triangle pieces. Place one triangle on each side of the 3-by-8 inch pieces so that the 8-inch sides of each piece line up. The rectangle acts as the base of the ramp, while the triangles provide the sides and incline. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 12

Apply a line of glue to the incline edges of both triangles. Place the 3-by-8.98-inch pieces on top of the glue so that each side matches up on the ramp. Allow the glue to dry.

    • 13

Apply glue to the perimeter on the open end of the ramp. Place the 3-by-4-inch rectangle over the glue to close and complete the ramp. Allow the glue to dry.
