How to Make a Duck Tape Ball

Duct tape, that fabulously versatile, heavy-duty tape used by many to fix almost anything, has a variety of entertaining uses as well. Once you begin to imagine the different items you can create with duct tape, you may open a new world of creative opportunities. Not only are the items you can make with duct tape imaginative, but they can also be inexpensive replicas of other more expensive items. For example, make a duct tape ball and use it for a variety of different sports activities, depending on the size.

Things You'll Need

Sheet of white paper
Ping pong ball or tennis ball
Duct tape
Scissors

Instructions

  Crumple the sheet of paper up into a tight wad with your hands if you want to use this as a base for your duct tape ball. Alternatively, use a ping pong ball or a tennis ball as the base for your ball.

  Attach the end of the duct tape to the paper or the ball and begin winding the duct tape tightly. If you are using a wad of paper, try to keep the paper in the shape of a ball as you wind the duct tape tightly around it to cover the paper completely in duct tape. If you are covering a ball, wind the duct tape as tightly as possible to cover the surface of the ball.

  Continue winding the duct tape around the ball form. Try not to squeeze the ball if you are wrapping around paper, otherwise wrap the duct tape evenly and tightly around the ball shape to create a ball shape that gets larger as you wind more. Wind until the ball becomes as large as you desire.

  Cut off the end of the duct tape with the scissors when the ball is the size you desire.
