How to Make Tech Deck Grip Tape

Blow a hairdryer on your fingerboard. This softens the glue, allowing you to remove it with ease. Lift a corner of the tape using your razor blade. Peel the tape off slowly.

Apply glue onto the wooden board where you removed the grip tape. Use plastic cement for best results. Cover the whole surface.

Put the sandpaper directly onto the board immediately. Press the tape down using your thumb. Push away any air bubbles you feel rising in between the deck and the black sandpaper. Cut the sandpaper lightly with the blade in any areas where your thumb cannot flatten a bubble.

Press the razor on the edge of the deck so that the dull side is facing down. Push down the sandpaper and drag it all around the perimeter to ensure it sticks completely. Do this until you see the sandpaper crease and conform to the deck shape.

Cut away the excess sandpaper with the razor blade. Slice the edges across the deck using enough force to cut away at the paper but not so much that you dig grooves into the board.

Cut holes with the corner of the blade. Expose the screws that protrude on the top of the deck.
