How to Make a Double Flat-Bar Rail for a Tech Deck

When you have mastered freestyle tricks on your Tech Deck fingerboards, you can move on to learning tricks using obstacles. There are several obstacles available for purchase that mimic their real-life counterparts such as stairs, ramps and rails. You can also create your own obstacles for your Tech Deck such as a double flat-bar rail. This set of two parallel rails allows your deck to grind along either side or use your wheels to skate along the dual bars.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure 6 inches from the end of the square dowel bar and cut at that point with a hand saw. You will have two 6-inch square dowel rods.

    • 2

Cut eight craft sticks in half with a hand saw. Form two piles of eight stick halves each.

    • 3

Glue each stick half in the piles to the one above it with wood glue. Allow the piles to fully dry.

    • 4

Measure across each pile and mark the middle with a pencil. Measure ¼ of an inch on each side of the center and mark it.

    • 5

Place the two piles in front of you, with one pile six inches behind the other. The piles will be parallel to each other.

    • 6

Position one dowel so that each end is directly to the left of the left marking on each pile. Apply a dab of wood glue to each end of the dowel and secure it in place.

    • 7

Position the second dowel so that each end is directly to the right of the right marking on each pile. Secure the dowel in place with wood glue. Allow both dowels to dry.
