How to Use the NXT As a Bluetooth Adapter

You can communicate with other Bluetooth devices through the Lego Mindstorm NXT. The Lego Mindstorm is a robotics kit that is programmable through NXT programming software. The kit allows you to build a robot and program it for certain activities such as moving forward and backward. Programming is often transferred through the included "brick," but Bluetooth allows for complex programming to be transferred to the robot. Bluetooth also allows you to connect with three different devices and establish a wireless connection.

Instructions

  Turn on the Bluetooth on the Lego Mindstorm brick by going to "Menu" and choosing "Bluetooth." Make sure that the Bluetooth option is turned on.

  Turn on your computer and navigate to "Bluetooth Devices." For Windows Vista and Windows 7 users, click the start menu in the bottom left-hand corner of the computer. Go to "Control Panel" and then go to "Hardware and Sound." Scroll down to "Bluetooth Devices."

  Click on "Bluetooth Settings" under the "Bluetooth Devices" list. Make sure that "Allow Bluetooth Devices to find this computer" is checked along with "Allow Bluetooth devices to connect to this computer."

  Click on "Add Wireless Device" under the "Bluetooth Devices" menu. Your computer should automatically search for and locate the Lego Mindstorm NXT. Click "Connect" to make the Bluetooth connection.

  Click on "Add Wireless Device" under the "Bluetooth Devices" menu. Your computer should automatically search for and locate the Lego Mindstorm NXT. Click "Connect" to make the Bluetooth connection.
